Celebrating World IP Day with the USPTO, UCSD and CONNECT

Musick Davison celebrated World IP Day at a special event hosted by UCSD and CONNECT to discuss current issues and challenges faced by inventors. Partner Eleanor Musick participated on a panel along with USPTO Director Andrei Iancu, UCSD Vice Chancellor Paul Roben, NBA legend and Executive Chairman of San Diego Sports Innovators Bill Walton, Director of the California Center for Algae Biotechnology Steve Mayfield, ElliptiGO Creator Bryan Pate and Hydrostasis Founder (and MDIP client!) Debbie Chen.

The panel discussed recent and ongoing changes at the USPTO to simplify and streamline the patent examination process, current challenges facing patent applicants, and efforts to encourage more women to invent and participate in the startup community. CONNECT President Silvia Mah and UCSD Startup Advocate Briana Weisinger hosted the event and provided their own insights on female entrepreneurship in San Diego and beyond.
